Chick-fil-A is now the third largest restaurant chain by total sales in the U.S. after overtaking KFC, Wendy’s, and Burger King.

Its ascent has occurred so rapidly that other fast-food brands are taking note of its unique business model.

Popeyes recently launched its own chicken sandwich leading the two brands into a social media war.

But how is it that a restaurant that’s ensnared in controversy, and closed on Sundays, is next in line to overtake Starbucks and McDonald’s?
