Netflix has commissioned “The Last Czars,” a big budget drama docuseries about the fall of the Romanov dynasty in Russia, from production company Nutopia.

The six-part docuseries will follow the fall of the Russian Imperial Romanov family, headed by Tsar Nicholas II, who were killed in 1918 following the February Revolution.

The series will be a mix of documentary and reconstruction.

“The Last Czars,” which is expected to air in 2018, is Nutopia’s second major Netflix commission coming after it secured the 12-part documentary series, “Babies.”
