“Free Solo” isn’t the only rock-climbing documentary that will make your jaw drop.  “The Dawn Wall” has just landed on Netflix in case you’re in need of an adrenaline rush without leaving your couch.

A Red Bull Media House production, “The Dawn Wall” shares a lot of similarities with National Geographic’s Oscar-winning documentary about a history-making climb.

Both focus on rock-climbing legends who have to overcome mountains of adversaries (pun intended) to achieve their goals.

Whereas “Free Solo” focuses on the solo and ropes-free climber Alex Honnold, “The Dawn Wall” chronicles Tommy Caldwell and Kevin Jorgeson’s duel ascent.

Both documentaries feature gripping near misses as these men attempt the most difficult climb of their lives.  The two films even take place on the same mountain face: Yosemite’s El Capitan.

But whereas “Free Solo” is about watching one man achieve greatness one anxiety-inducing foothold at a time, “The Dawn Wall” is more about the journey that took Caldwell and Jorgeson to their moment in history.

“The Dawn Wall” is available now on Netflix.
