“Ryuichi Sakamoto: Coda” — a feature-length documentary about the award-winning musician, composer, and music producer Ryuichi Sakamoto — will be screened Out of Competition at the 74th Venice International Film Festival that begins Aug. 30.

In 1983, he made his acting debut in “Merry Christmas Mr. Lawrence” starring David Bowie, and the movie also marked his debut as a film composer. He has since won numerous awards including an Oscar and Grammy for scoring works such as “The Last Emperor,” “The Sheltering Sky,” “Little Buddha,” and most recently, “The Revenant.”
