HBO is gearing up to air a series of documentary shorts on the Quinceañera celebrations of five Latina girls in the United States.

“15: A Quinceañera Story” comprises four shorts that will premiere on Dec. 19, with a new short to air each night simultaneously on HBO and HBO Latino through Dec. 22.

The profiled girls include Zoey, a Mexican-American who resides south of Los Angeles, and was assigned male at birth; Rosi, who chooses to hold her quinceañera celebrations in Havana, because her grandfather cannot obtain a visa to the States; Ashley (pictured), an amateur boxer whose mother is a Dreamer, and whose father has been deported; and best friends Jackie and Nina, whose joint celebration honors their Mexican-American heritage.
